HAPPY HALLOWEEN...tomorrow...

Hello Low IQers! Halloween is tomorrow and I thought I would post this picture in the spirit of the whole thing. I probably should have drawn some kids laying a hard egging on a house, or some chicks dressed in sexy, by that I mean sluty, halloween costumes. You are more likely to see something like that than some actual scary shit. Whateves I drew this and this is what you get. Have fun and try to get more action. Gigam would approve!

SUPER! ROBOT ROBOT I'm A ROBOT...

The Robot-Robot is something I have worked on for a while. I have done a bunch of illustrations with this character as well as comics. There is one story I have to get to involving the Robot-Robot called, "A Horrible Way to Rust." Yeah that will be a good one when I finally get to it. In the meantime here is an image I did on canvas with some paint markers. Hope you likes.

Good weekend to all,

Mortekai is SUPER! individual buttons available...

So I printed up some individual or "Loosey" buttons if you will. All of these designs are awesome and look really great when worn with a favorite garment. Seriously people bought a bunch of these at SPX and rocked them the whole weekend. Those people were looking very stylish indeed.

Anyway the deal is these buttons are like all of the other ones I have, 1" pinback style with a high quality color design. I drew from a variety of sources when putting these buttons together. A little from the Mortekai tap, a shot of SUPER! All in all they blend really well together. Kinda like an Irish Carbomb, or a Mortekairate or something.

These buttons can be purchased individually for seventy-five cents each. If so inclined you also have the option of purchasing the whole collection for four dollars and fifty cents. If you purchase the whole collection the buttons will come packaged with a few stickers and an extra surprise or two.

Here are what each of the designs look like. The title of the button follows the image.

"The Locket"

"Robber in Neon"

"Death is on my lips without you"

"I Remember"

"Darkness"

"Peace Shop"

"SUPER!"

There you have it folks. New buttons available either individually or together. If you want to purchase you can leave a comment here or contact me at: mortekaiissuper@yahoo.com

p.s. I should have a page up with info on how to purchase all of the Mortekai and SUPER! stuff with prices and shipping info very shortly.

The conqueror returns triumphant (kinda)...

I am back from SPX and more tired than EVER! Tara and I worked non-stop right up to the time we had to leave Long Island and head to Bethesda. I mean literally we were working until fifteen minutes before we were picked up. Tara was the real life-saver of the show. She kept me going and was working hard to help me get everything done leading up to the show, right before the show and even during the show.

That is right we had to make up some issues of SUPER! while the show was going on. We completely sold out at one point. Now I know that sounds cool but we only had like fifty copies on the table at the time, either way the comics were a success.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that didn't I? The new issue of SUPER! is done and it is the best thing your eyes may see this entire year. I feel confident in saying that because the year is almost over and I really like the way the book turned out. This issue has a simple but fun story that runs through seven of its sixteen pages.

Speaking of the format, it is the same as last time with a few new tweaks and such. This time instead of being two separate eight page mini comics you get a sixteen page mini bound together with a piece of floss (not the dental kind although that could be fun). The book is the same dimensions as the previous issue. The colors have really been stepped up in this issue and I think the book as a whole works nicely together. The comic is also packaged the same as the first issue, in an envelope with front and back covers. Besides the comic you also get a button and a few stickers. Here are a few preview pages followed by the cover.

So as I said the new issue of SUPER! went over reaalllyyyy well and I was psyched. The first issue also got a ton of compliments and sold out too but that is old hat around here and I wanted to talk about the new crap. Ok.

Anyway now that I am back I will be putting up a post on how to purchase the SUPER! I & II, both Mortekai Button Sets, and the new T-Shirt shortly. It will be pretty much the same deal as last time except I will have a few more buying options and I will try and get a few pictures of the actual products up (I am not the master of the internets or technology). But for now if you want any of the new or old stuff just give me an email at: mortekaiissuper@yahoo.com

There will be a wrap up SPX report/bitch post coming soon but I need a little time to reflect and decompress before I unleash that beast. Hope you enjoy the preview pages.

Is that a Koala Bear?,

the twenty-third, Mortekai Button Set II...

On Friday I told you about the new Mortekai Shirt having its debut at SPX. The second new item to be making a debut at this years SPX is the second Mortekai Button Set. This set focuses more on characters than the first. This set features three different creatures, who happen to be roommates, and the plant that they share. Here are what the buttons in the set look like with a little description after each.

This is Harrison J. Kear. Harrison enjoys mopeds, marmalade, and sharp dressing. He found himself living with his current roommates after answering an advert in the local paper. Harrison's generally thinks of himself as a cheerful person.

This is Wolfboy. Wolfboy created the wolf suit he wears after having lost his fur in an unfortunate accident, the details of which he does not like to discuss. Wolfboy has an affinity for accomplishing a task when he sets his mind to it. He once ate an entire pizza, and even drank an entire frozen drink in one gulp. Wolfboy hates brain freezes and stomach aches.

This is Syd. He lives pretty cheaply, or smartly as he calls it, usually relying on the other roommates to pick up the slack. Syd likes to try and dial in a good time whenever he can. He considers singing along with the radio while spending time with his friends one of his favorite things. Syd thinks of himself as an all around good buddy.

And finally this is the beloved plant that all of the roommates look after. It was given to them by their neighbor gwen. She is an artist and observer. Each of the roommates tries to impress her by taking great care of her gift which they cherish above all else.

And here is what the set look like as a whole. As with the first set all of the buttons are 1" pin-back in style. These buttons have a really great color quality and I think they turned out awesome.

The set will be available through the site when I get back from SPX. I will also have all of the other Mortekai Clothing and SUPER! mini comic stuff available after the show. Speaking of the show my head is almost ready to explode trying to get everything ready. I be tired and stressed. Everything is almost done though and it will be worth it once the show starts.

Almost there,

the twenty-second, Wolfboy T-Shirts coming today...

Today I received word via the pony express that mortekai upper body garments will be arriving today! I can't wait to see them. I spent the last two weeks going back and forth trying to get them just right and making sure they would be great. These shirts will be making the trip to SPX this year and hopefully some of the lovely people there will want to buy some. They better or I will be forced to kick some butt.

Here is what the image looks like and where it is placed on the shirt.

I will get some more info up and an actual picture when I get them in hand.

S-P-X! it's go time...

Hello anyone and everyone. I am very excited to share some good news with you all. Yes that be right I got the good news this time. The tests have come back positive and Mortekai is SUPER! will be going to SPX, the Small Press Expo, this year! Both Mortekai Clothing and SUPER! mini-comics will be represented at the show and will have items available for purchase. I like to think of every purchase as putting me one step closer to my life goal which I title, "Escape this hellish life" or "This money can be used to buy me some pizza!" either way it is a win-win for the buyer and the buyee.

So I guess I should tell you a little bit about what SPX is right? Well I would like to be able to do that but I have never been there before. Yeah shocking I know. I always had something get in the way of previous attempts to get to Maryland. Work, School, Salem Massachusetts, you know big things of great import! I did make it to Maryland one time but that was to Ocean City which was fun in the sun time and not sell mini-comics, buttons, and t-shirts while trying to mingle time. Ocean City...Whew good times.

Back to the topic at hand. Ok, so since I have never been to SPX I will let the description I copied from their website do the talking for them. If it sounds a little pompous, there is your reason. Sorry fools and non-fools alike. Well here it go try to enjoy.

SPX serves as the preeminent showcase for the exhibition of independent comic books and the discovery of new creative talent.

SPX will bring together over 300 artists and publishers to meet their readers, booksellers, distributors, and each other. SPX will be open to the public from 2pm Friday, October 13th and run through 8pm that evening. The celebration continues Saturday from 10am to 7pm, culminating in the 10th annual Ignatz Awards Reception. In addition, expect great programming all weekend long for you to enjoy!

SPX 2006 marks the tenth annual presentation of The Ignatz Awards for outstanding achievement in comics and cartooning. The Ignatz, named after George Herriman's brick-wielding mouse, recognizes outstanding work that challenges popular notions of what comics can achieve, both as an artform and as a means of personal expression. The Ignatz is a festival prize, the first such of the United States comic book industry. Winners will be determined by ballot during SPX and presented at the gala Ignatz Awards ceremony.

As with every year all profits from SPX will go to support the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, protecting the First Amendment rights of comic book readers and professionals.

Here is the link to the SPX website, click right about here.

Ok there you go you bees informed. Basically what all of that be telling you is SPX is awesome. You get to meet a lot of cool people sell your stuff and maybe pick up some cool comics and such. I am getting totally pumped to have a great time. I also hope that a few people will like the Mortekai is SUPER! stuff.

So as I said before I will have Mortekai Clothing and SUPER! mini-comics stuff at the S to the PX. I will have the first issue of SUPER! as well as the Mortekai Button Set. There will also be a few new items debuting at the show which I am really excited about. But I do not want to go into them too much now. I am going to milk this new stuff for as long as I can. This will enable me to use the new stuff as posts for the next week. Sorry bro, I am going to be busy getting all of the stuff for the trip together.

I won't leave you hanging completely though. One of the new items at SPX will be buttons that are going to be sold individually. They are all 1" pinback buttons and have great color and printing thanks to the amazing Corpseflower (thanks Nate & Emily). Here are what two of my favorites look like.

So if you are planning on going to SPX come and see me at my table. If you are not going you suck. All of the stuff available at SPX will be available here after the show :^)

Little Superstar...

Ok, I was going to post some stuff about how I like living on Long Island but most of the people living here are a bunch of dousche bags. Then something happened to me, I saw the BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. Thats right this video is the best thing you are ever going to see. Most of you out there that surf the internet non-stop have probably seen this so if you have sorry. For those of you who have not this is some crazy Kollywood action. I really do not know what else to say about it, I think the video can speak for itself. Watch this and laugh until your insides melt.

Little Superstar is my God,
Mortekai

P.S. don't forget to check out the other guys grooving in the background :^)
